ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT
We are aware that industrial production has an impact on the planet.
In our manufacturing plants, we work responsibly, considering the entire life cycle to adopt environmentally friendly practices in order to reduce our environmental impact as much as possible.
SELECTION OF MATERIALS WITH LOWER ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
- Paper: the company has FSC Chain of Custody Certification and all paper used is FSC certified.
- Cardboard: the boxes and packaging material used are made from 100% recycled material.
- Vegetable-based inks: these inks reduce CO2 emissions by up to 80%. They contain no polluting solvents and are made from renewable sources. They also allow for quick adjustments to the printing machine and offer brightness and quality in images.
- UV offset ink: more environmentally friendly compared to conventional inks. They do not contain organic solvents, which reduces the release of VOCs into the air.
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
1.- REDUCE, by at least 20%, THE GENERATION OF HAZARDOUS WASTE at the Ruperto Chapí manufacturing center between 2019 and 2023.
OBJECTIVE ACHIEVED: 36.32% decrease compared to the starting year 2019.
WASTE MINIMIZATION PLAN FOR THE 2020-2023 period presented to the Department of the Environment and Indoor Agriculture on 03/14/2024.
2.- REDUCE, at least, 10% the consumption of auxiliary plastic packaging material (shrink wrap, film, packaging tape) with more sustainable options (recycled / eco) in 2023.
GOAL ACHIEVED: 22% of packaging material consumption in 2023 has been more environmentally friendly.
Currently plastic tape has been replaced by Kraft paper adhesive tape for packaging and conventional film by manual stretch film (ECO STRETCH).
3.- REDUCE OFFICE PAPER CONSUMPTION, by at least 5% between 2022 and 2024.
Through the implementation of procedures that encourage the use of digital documentation and limit the use of paper documentation, WE ARE WORKING TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL BEFORE THE END OF 2024.
ELECTRICAL ENERGY CONSUMPTION
REDUCING ELECTRICAL ENERGY CONSUMPTION
Gráficas Zurita has reduced its electricity consumption thanks to the implementation of a series of measures:
- Installation of capacitor banks in all three manufacturing centres.
- Replacement of all factory lighting with LED lighting.
- Improvement of energy efficiency by installing sectional doors and installing thermostats.
- Environmental awareness: Information posters and training reinforcements.
Next objective: Study of the installation of solar panels.
